The Nigerian Guild of Editors’ (NGE) annual conference is set to kick off on November 12 to 13, 2025, in Abuja, a statement by the association’s president, Eze Anaba and its General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, confirmed.
The two-day event which will hold at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall, Abuja and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre, Jahi, Abuja respectively, will bring together over 500 editors, government officials, business leaders, and diplomats to discuss pressing national issues.
Stating that the editors’ conference is a credible platform to discuss and proffer solutions to issues pertaining to national development and cohesion, the Guild said that papers and speakers have been carefully selected to address nagging issues in governance, polity and journalism.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to declare the conference open, while the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, and Prince Nduka Obaigbena will chair the proceedings.
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will deliver the keynote address, focusing on “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors.”
The conference will feature sessions on electoral integrity, judicial integrity, economic reforms, and national security.
Prof Awa Kalu (SAN) will speak on “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity”, while Prof Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim will discuss “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms”. Gen Lucky Irabor will address “Media, Terrorism, and National Security”, and Prof Abiodun Adeniyi will examine “The Evolving Face of Journalism”.
The conference will also feature an executive session with government officials, political and business leaders, providing a platform for editors to discuss national issues and propose solutions to Nigeria’s development challenges.
