The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has moved to strengthen its grassroots campaign structure ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The party appointed all six members of the House of Representatives from the state as federal constituency coordinators to drive voter mobilisation across the state.

The development was disclosed on Wednesday by the Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti 2026 Governorship Campaign Council, Opeyemi Bamidele, following a strategy meeting of the council in Ado-Ekiti.

He explained that the decision forms part of a broader plan to deepen grassroots engagement and ensure effective coordination of campaign activities in all six federal constituencies.

According to Bamidele, the campaign council has adopted a structured and decentralised approach that prioritises inclusiveness, transparency, and direct voter engagement, with each federal lawmaker playing a pivotal role in mobilising support at the constituency level.

He noted that the strategy is designed to ensure that the party’s message resonates with voters across communities and demographic groups.

The Senate Leader further revealed that the campaign would be issue-based, focusing on communicating the achievements of the current administration while presenting a forward-looking agenda to the electorate.

He stressed that the council had been carefully constituted to reflect broad representation across the state, thereby strengthening its reach and effectiveness at the grassroots.

While expressing confidence in the chances of the ruling party, Bamidele said the performance of Governor Biodun Oyebanji would serve as a major campaign asset, adding that the administration’s record would naturally translate into widespread voter support.

He also indicated that the main phase of the campaign would commence soon, with the council intensifying mobilisation efforts aimed at securing a decisive victory.

According to him, the campaign is not only focused on winning the governorship election but also on positioning the party strongly for subsequent presidential, National Assembly, and House of Assembly elections.

“We are not just running a campaign; we are building a movement that will energise voters and prepare the state for future elections,” Bamidele said, emphasising that the approach would go beyond conventional politicking to stimulate broader voter participation.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the campaign council, noting that the groundwork already laid by party stakeholders has created a solid foundation for electoral success.

He commended the level of strategic planning and grassroots mobilisation, describing them as critical to expanding the party’s outreach across the state.

Also speaking, the Director General of the Campaign Council, Cyril Fasuyi, said the party is aiming for a landslide victory, stressing that anything short of 500,000 votes in both the governorship and presidential elections would fall below expectations.

Fasuyi added that the campaign structure has been designed to penetrate all wards and local government areas, ensuring comprehensive voter engagement and efficient mobilisation at every level, as the party intensifies preparations for the 2026 electoral contest.
