El-Rufai’s mother to be buried in Abuja

Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, will be laid to rest in Abuja on Sunday, according to a statement issued by her family.

The family disclosed that the Janazah (funeral) prayer is scheduled to hold at the National Mosque Abuja at 1:00 p.m. prompt. Following the prayers, her remains will be interred at the Gudu Cemetery in line with Islamic rites.

The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives and grandson of the deceased. He confirmed that the burial would take place immediately after the funeral prayer.

“In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. On behalf of the elders and the entire family, we formally announce the Janazah prayer for our beloved grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who returned to her Creator yesterday,” the statement read.

The family expressed appreciation for the support and condolences received, praying that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings and grants her Aljannatul Firdaus.

It was gathered that the late matriarch passed away in Cairo, Egypt, where she had been receiving medical treatment.

Following her death, several prominent figures extended their sympathies to the family, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. Additionally, notable personalities such as Nentanwe Yilwatda paid condolence visits to El-Rufai at his Abuja residence.
