A candlelight vigil will take place today, Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, to honor the late photographer and biker, Kola Onifoto, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on March 1, 2026.

The vigil, organised by his friends, aims to celebrate his life and provide an opportunity for loved ones to come together and mourn his loss.

Kola, just 35 years old, was on his way back from Akure, where he had delivered a package to his uncle, when the accident occurred in Kara, Lagos.

His passion for photography and motorcycles had recently led him to fulfill his dream of becoming a biker, and he was on his first solo ride outside Lagos when the incident happened.

Described by friends and fans as kind-hearted, adventurous, and inspiring, Kola’s untimely death has sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media.

Kola was taken to the Federal Road Safety Corps emergency unit in Ojota before being transferred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Kola’s mother had warned him to be careful days before the accident, and he had shared their conversation on social media.

Kola’s death has sparked an outpouring of tributes and discussions about road safety, with many calling for improved infrastructure and emergency response systems.
