Suspected kidnappers have abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin children in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The victims were reportedly seized on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area while travelling out of their residence.
A media aide to Adelabu, Femi Awogboro, confirmed the incident, saying the family members were attacked by armed men near Elewura as they attempted to access the expressway.
According to him, the abducted woman and her twin children, identified as Peter and Paul, were forcefully taken away by the assailants, whose identities remain unknown.
“The family members were leaving their residence at Elewura and heading towards the expressway when they were intercepted and whisked away by the kidnappers,” he said.
Details surrounding the abduction were still sketchy as of Wednesday morning, while efforts to locate the victims had reportedly commenced.
The incident has heightened concerns over security in Oyo State amid a string of kidnapping cases recorded in recent months.
In May, more than 40 students and teachers were reportedly abducted during an attack on a community in Oriire Local Government Area, while several other kidnapping incidents have been reported across different parts of the state.
One of the notable cases involved the abduction of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Wale Oriade, who was kidnapped in Ibadan in December 2025 by armed men who reportedly stormed his office and forced him into a waiting vehicle before fleeing the scene.
When contacted over the latest incident, Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the command was yet to independently verify the report.
“I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” he said.
Police authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations progress.
