There was tension in Sakpefu community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday night as gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

According to a source who spoke to Sahara Reporters on Monday, the assailants invaded the community, firing sporadically to scare residents before they whisked away Hajiya Fatima and her daughter, Amina.

“The bandits abducted his wife, Hajiya Fatima, and his daughter, Amina, and took them to an undisclosed destination,” the source said.

Patigi and other parts of Kwara North have witnessed recurring cases of abductions in recent months, prompting calls by residents for government and security agencies to strengthen protection in the area.

The incidents have heightened concerns over worsening insecurity in Kwara, particularly in rural areas where communities complain of slow or absent security response during violent attacks.
