Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has advised eligible voters in Lagos State to always participate actively in elections in the state.
Tinubu-Ojo said this on Saturday after casting her vote in the ongoing local government election across the state.
The Iyaloja-General expressed full confidence in the electoral process and emphasised the importance of civic engagement at the grassroots level.
Tinubu-Ojo said, “I am very confident in the process 100% because it is transparent, and the present chairman has done very well for the local government.
“If the person currently in office has performed well, we should have confidence that the next person can do even better.
“I want to encourage Lagosians to come out and perform their civic right. It is our responsibility to ensure we choose those who lead us. If we don’t cast our vote, we don’t have any right to complain whether the government is doing well or not.”
She also advocated for greater female representation in governance, urging women to support and encourage one another to pursue leadership positions.
The local government elections are taking place across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State. Voters are expected to elect new chairpersons and councillors to steer development at the grassroots.
