There’s heavy tension at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Abuja as police officers have been deployed to the area ahead of conflicting meetings.

Two factions of the party are set to hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the Wadata Plaza, a move that will cause a dispute.

The police presence is aimed at preventing a clash between the party members.

The PDP has been embroiled in an internal crisis, with disputes over leadership and the legitimacy of certain meetings.

The situation is fluid, with reports of barricades and traffic cones blocking access to the secretariat. The police have yet to issue a statement regarding the deployment or allegations of harassment.

Earlier, the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu arrived at the Wadata Plaza

Addressing newsmen at the PDP National Secretariat, Anyanwu confirmed he invited the security operatives who had barricaded major sections outside the premises.
