On Monday, September 19, 2022, I physically went to Chicago State University to verify from the horse’s mouth that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was admitted, studied, and graduated with a First-Class degree from that institution. Again, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the British Broadcasting Corporation’s Disinformation Unit reported that they had investigated the claims by some Nigerian politicians and found that President Bola Tinubu did not forge his certificate from Chicago State University.Yet Peter Obi went on Arise TV yesterday to claim that “People are with unverified, forged certificates, criminal records all over the place, and they are in charge.”Peter Obi should note that he lost the 2023 Presidential election, but that should not mean that he should also lose his mind. If he has any evidence of what he is saying, then he should present it. Or, like me, he can go to Chicago State University to “go and verify” as he puts it. Surely, even a man with a poor Second Class Lower degree in Philosophy knows that it is an argument ad hominem to attack a person when you cannot attack their achievements.
