Nollywood actress-turned-evangelist Tonto Dikeh has publicly reflected on a turbulent chapter of her life, revealing how she believes she was rescued from a troubled past and redirected toward faith.

Speaking during a gospel ministration in Tanzania, the film star recounted what she described as her “dark days,” a period marked by confusion, unhealthy choices, and spiritual struggles.

According to her, the search for meaning in her life once led her down paths she now regrets.

In an emotional testimony, Dikeh disclosed that she had previously been involved in activities she now considers spiritually harmful, including associations she described as working with negative forces. She portrayed that phase of her life as one filled with “filth and dirt,” noting that she often felt lost and without direction.

The actress said her turning point came when she experienced what she believes was a divine intervention that called her back to a life of faith. She explained that this moment marked the beginning of a transformation that has since redefined her purpose.

“I went from being a drug addict to standing on the altar, praising God,” she told the audience, adding that her journey has reshaped her understanding of grace and redemption.

Dikeh also spoke about her initial doubts over her newfound path, saying she frequently questioned why she was chosen for such a transformation. However, she said she has come to embrace her role, believing her story is meant to inspire others facing similar struggles.

“I often ask, ‘Why me?’ but the answer I receive is ‘Why not you?’” she said, concluding that she now sees mercy not just as an act, but as the very nature of her faith.
