Drama occurred on Sunday during the conferment ceremony of the Nigerian first lady, Senator Remi Tinubu as the ‘Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile-Oodua’ by the Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

During the speech of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Tinubu walked to the podium to interrupt the music presentation of the governor.

Governor Adeleke is known for his social lifestyles, which he displays at different official gatherings, which earned him the street name, the dancing governor.

However, on Sunday, while Adeleke was singing a Yoruba thanksgiving song, the First Lady walked up to him and said, “I give you 5 minutes to conclude your speech. Enough with the music, or I’ll switch off the microphone”.

While the governor hesitated a bit and continued with his song, the First Lady returned and emphasised that she would switch off his microphone.

She raised the speech Adeleke was supposed to read and insisted that he started reading.

The incident has sparked buzz on social media with some Nigerians questioning the attitude of the First Lady and its legality while others backed her.

Recall that the Ooni, who spoke at the installation ceremony held at Afewonro Park, Enuwa Square, Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, during the grand finale of activities marking the 10th Coronation Anniversary of Ooni Ogunwusi, Oba Ogunwusi, expressed deep appreciation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering support over the years.

“She is the mother of the nation. Exactly 10 years ago, on the 7th of December 2015, she stood by me through thick and thin.

“Today is not a day for long speeches, but I must sincerely thank President Bola Tinubu for his support and thank all of you for standing by our mother. She is indeed a merciful mother.

“Yeye Asiwaju Ile Oodua. The first lady, we have done it for the President five years ago, but today, thank God, he released her for the rites.

“The title is a cooperation from all traditional rulers in Yorubaland,” Ooni Ogunwusi said.
