I wasn’t suicidal, just needed support, Busola Oke clarifies

Gospel artist Busola Oke has denied allegations that she contemplated suicide, clarifying that her emotional live video was a call for support and connection, not a distress signal.

On the Talk To B Podcast, Oke revealed she was feeling frustrated, isolated, and overwhelmed, prompting her to seek comfort and connection from friends and followers.

She stressed that her aim was to reach out to people who genuinely care about her, not to air her dirty laundry in public.

She said, “No, I never said I was going to commit suicide. So, I think it was a misconception, a misinterpretation. I was on life, actually, I was really frustrated, more frustrated. I just felt like, I was feeling like, I was feeling really strange. And I was feeling very lonely, as if I had nobody. There was nobody around me. I was just feeling exhausted. So, I just went to live.

“And I said, I was saying, is there anybody out there that cares about me? I just want to see people that loves me. And I started talking to my friends. They started reaching out. I said, please share this video and tag. Just show me you love me. I’m here. These people started talking to me. I’m so glad they’re here for you and all that. They started sharing the video. And all of a sudden, I don’t know what, somebody said. I never planned to expose myself. I’ve always been someone who doesn’t like to talk.

“I’m someone who doesn’t like to expose herself. I’ve been going through days. I’ve been going through so much since 2020. And I’ve kept quiet for so long. Because I don’t want, I don’t like people treating me as a pity party. I want people to be natural around me. I don’t like people treating me as a subject of a charity or something. That’s why I don’t want to go out. I don’t want to tell people my story. So, that was why I kept quiet for this long.”
