Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has declared that he will be present for the case filed against him by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Recall that the secret police dragged Sowore, X Corp. (owners of the social media platform X) and Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook to court.
DSS, on September 16, filed a 5-count charge through M.B. Abubakar, Esq., Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice (FMOJ).
It accused Sowore of describing President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal” during the president’s recent visit to Brazil, where he stated that his government had eliminated corruption.
The case have not been assigned to any judge and no date has been fixed for Sowore’s arraignment.
Responding, Sowore, in a post on X promised to be present for the case when it is assigned to a judge.
He wrote, “The State Security Service, alias @OfficialDSSNG today filed a 5-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against ‘@X’ (formerly @Twitter), @facebook ,meyself. They claimed that because I called @officialABAT a criminal, I have somehow committed a set of “novel” offences they invented and spread across five counts.
“It’s hard to believe there’s anyone sensible left in these offices that should be making Nigeria work. Regardless, I will be present whenever this case is assigned for trial. #RevolutionNow”
