In preparation for the Federal Capital Territory Area Council election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched online accreditation for journalists and media organisations.
This was contained in a statement the commission shared on its official X handle on Monday.
INEC stated that the accreditation is aimed at vetting journalists and media organisations for the FCT polls scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The statement reads, “INEC has commenced online accreditation for journalists and media organisations intending to cover the FCT Area Council Election scheduled to hold on Saturday, 21st February, 2026.
“Interested media organisations wishing to deploy journalists for coverage are to apply via: https://imap.inecnigeria.org.”
In addition, the statement clarified that the accreditation portal will be open from Monday, December 15, 2025, to Sunday, February 8, 2026.
INEC further stated that late submission will not be entertained as the portal will automatically shut down at exactly 12:00 am midnight on Sunday, 8th February, 2026.
Recall that INEC had earlier ordered the nationwide display of the preliminary register of voters for the claims and objections exercise.
According to a statement made available on the commission’s official X handle on Friday, the exercise will enable voters and Nigerians to lay claims on registration details and allow for necessary modifications.
