Israel, western allies hostile to Nigeria over pro-Palestine stance – Bashir Ahmad

A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has claimed that Israel and its Western allies are against Nigeria because of the nation’s principled stand on the Palestinian issue.

In a post he made via his official X handle on Friday, the former presidential aide said that remarks of Vice-President Kashim Stettima on Nigeria’s stand on the Palestinian issue were not his personal position or that of any individual leader.

Ahmad stressed that the statements represent Nigeria’s principled position, rather than a personal viewpoint, underscoring the nation’s commitment to its international stance on the issue.

According to him, the position is rooted in justice, international law and Nigeria’s historical commitment to standing with oppressed peoples across the world.

“You don’t have to subtly tell us what we already know. Israel and its Western allies are doing all these things against Nigeria simply because of our principled stand on the Palestinian issue.

“What Vice President Shettima said was not his personal position or that of any individual leader; it is the official and long-standing position of Nigeria as a sovereign nation.

“Whichever Nigerian leader addresses the United Nations will always restate our position, which is firmly anchored on the two-state solution to the Israel–Palestine conflict,” he wrote.
