It’s a war to wipe out Christians, Oyedepo speaks on Nigeria’s insecurity

The General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has sounded the alarm on Nigeria’s insecurity crisis, alleging that the country is witnessing a war against Christians with the apparent intent to wipe them out, as the nation grapples with escalating violence and attacks.

Oyedepo said this during Sunday’s sermon as a reaction to recent killing and abduction of worshippers at a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Kwara State, as well as the mass kidnapping of schoolchildren at a Catholic school in Niger State

The preacher stated that the gunmen were Islamic jihadists waging a war to destroy Christians in Nigeria.

“It’s a war against Christians in Nigeria to wipe them out of the nation, but that won’t happen.

“And they said there is no genocide? You don’t know grammar? Are you sleeping? So what happened in the CAC last week? When they train liars, what do you expect?” he asked.

He stated that while the church is currently oppressed, heaven’s judgment will descend.

Recalling his warnings from 2015, he noted that many had questioned his stance at the time. “But every sympathiser, beneficiary, and anyone backing this evil will be brought down this time. Because God told me, ‘I have touched your tongue with a coal of fire; whatever you say, you see.’ In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Last Tuesday, gunmen killed two people and abducted 38 worshippers, according to an official of the affected CAC assembly. The abductors have reportedly demanded N100 million per person.

Prior to this, kidnappers abducted 25 children from a school in Kebbi State, killing the vice principal in the process.

On Friday, a total of 303 schoolchildren and 12 teachers were abducted at St Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State. No ransom had been demanded at the time of this report.
