Jigawa tops phase ll of voter registration

Jigawa State is leading the pack in Nigeria’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with the highest number of new registrants across the country.

As of February 13, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recorded a total of 1,228,648 eligible Nigerians who completed their registration under Phase II Week Six of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Jigawa State contributed 98,698 new voters, accounting for 8.03 per cent of the national total, the highest figure recorded by any state to date.

INEC disclosed the figures in an update posted on its official X handle on Thursday.
Trailing behind Jigawa are Lagos with 86,307 registrants, Sokoto with 77,004, and Kano with 71,990.

The latest total marks a substantial increase from the 884,737 registrations recorded at the end of Week Five, reflecting a surge in citizen participation across the country.

A breakdown of the data shows that 673,124 applicants initiated their registration through the online pre-registration portal, while 555,524 individuals completed the process physically at designated registration centres nationwide.

INEC’s statistics further reveal that youths aged 18–34 account for 848,066 registrations (69.02 per cent). Female registrants total 696,891 (57 per cent), while male registrants stand at 531,757 (43 per cent). Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) account for 19,414 registrations.
