A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the delivery of its judgment in the case filed by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Lamido is seeking to stop the PDP’s national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The court had earlier restrained the PDP from holding the convention, citing non-compliance with the party’s constitution and electoral laws.
Justice Peter Lifu ruled that the party’s failure to publish the convention timetable and issue the mandatory 21-day notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was a breach of due process .
When parties got to court on Thursday, an official of court announced that the judgment was not ready but that parties would be notified when it is ready.
Lamido, who is seeking the PDP chairmanship, claims he was unlawfully excluded from purchasing the nomination form.
He expressed sadness over the court action, saying, “If my party loses, I also lose. I feel like crying taking this path”.
