Kaduna lawmaker Daniel Amos dumps PDP for APC

Daniel Amos, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on House Services, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development marks another major defection from the opposition PDP to the ruling APC.

Amos, who represents Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, recently announced his defection at a well attended rally at the Kafanchan Township stadium with Senator Marshall Kaduna ( Kaduna South).

In a letter read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during Wednesday’s plenary, the lawmaker cited unresolved contradictions within the PDP’s national leadership as the reason for his defection, stating that it has impaired the party’s effectiveness and ability to serve the people’s interests.

He admitted that leaving the PDP was a difficult decision, particularly given the party’s trust in him to represent his constituents after years of loyal service.

He regretted that the PDP has regressed and has allowed itself to be weighed down by its own antics, making the party unattractive.

Following extensive consultations with his constituents, he announced his decision to join the APC, citing the party’s policies under President Tinubu’s leadership and Governor Uba Sani’s efforts to bring peace and development to Kaduna State as key factors in his decision.
