Kano gov sacks commerce commissioner

Governor Abba Yusuf has relieved Shehu Wada Sagagi of his duties as Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry with immediate effect.

The decision was made public on Thursday through a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Tofa.

Following his removal, Sagagi has been instructed to transfer responsibilities of the ministry to the Director of Commerce pending further directives from the state government.

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the former commissioner’s service, acknowledging his contributions in governance, religious engagements, and efforts aimed at supporting small and medium-scale enterprises during his tenure.

He also wished Sagagi success in his future pursuits.

According to the statement, the move is part of broader efforts by the administration to restructure key government institutions for greater efficiency and improved performance.

It added that the decision aligns with the government’s objective of driving sustainable growth and strengthening development across the state.

The governor further reassured residents of his commitment to delivering effective governance and enhancing public service in Kano State.
