The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has successfully recovered four stolen vehicles and apprehended four suspects in connection with multiple vehicle theft incidents within the state.

This was made known through a statement by Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesman for the Kano State Police Command, issued on Saturday.

Kiyawa stated that the breakthrough resulted from intelligence-led operations, in compliance with directives from Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and Kano Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim

He noted that Anti-Car Theft Unit operatives intercepted a dark blue Hyundai Elantra at Naibawa Flyover, Kano, on March 7, while being driven by Ibrahim Muhd, 29, from Minna, Niger State, and Ahmed Sani, 32, of Abuja, despite being reported stolen in Abuja.

“The suspects were arrested and have confessed to the crime,” he said.

He added that on March 9, the unit also arrested Abdulkarim Mamman, 30, of Malali Quarters, Kaduna, in possession of a Honda Civic along the Kwanar Dawaki axis of the Kano-Zaria Expressway.

According to the police, the suspect confessed to stealing the vehicle from Karkasara Quarters in Kano.

Kiyawa further said Yusuf Ali, 28, of Kaduna, was arrested in connection with a silver Toyota Corolla stolen from Dutse, Jigawa State.

He added that a white Nissan Sunny, stolen from a parking lot in Kano metropolis, was also recovered during the operation.

“The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of the process,” he said.

The command urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing credible information to aid crime prevention in the state.
