Former Kano State Governor and NDC Vice Presidential Candidate, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has distanced himself from a social media message claiming that he is planning a protest over the worsening security situation in the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso described the message as false and urged members of the public to disregard it, insisting that neither he nor his political associates had called for any protest.

He emphasized that he does not support actions capable of disrupting public order or leading to the destruction of lives and property, stressing that national challenges should be addressed through peaceful and lawful means.

“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property. As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” he said.

Kwankwaso reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles, noting that elections remain the most legitimate avenue for citizens to express dissatisfaction and seek political change.

“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change,” he stated.

The former governor expressed confidence in the prospects of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the party was focused on securing victory in the forthcoming elections through peaceful democratic processes.

“Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he added.

He consequently advised Nigerians to ignore the circulating message and those responsible for spreading what he described as disinformation.

“The general public is therefore advised to disregard the false message and ignore those peddling such disinformation,” Kwankwaso said.

The statement comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country and increased political activities ahead of the next general elections.
