The Lagos State Government has mandated Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to comply with the directive on patronising state-owned media organisations.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, in a circular dated January 15, 2024, instructed MDAs to prioritise state-owned media organisations for coverage of official events, programmes, and announcements.
However, in a circular dated Monday, October 27, Agoro said it has been observed that some MDAs are yet to fully comply with the directive, while others have refused to pay the agreed rates for services rendered.
The latest circular reiterates that MDAs must “patronise state-owned media organisations as the primary broadcast media, ensure they are given priority and adequately featured, collaborate with private-owned media houses on content development, and make prompt payments for services rendered”.
Agoro insisted that “all Accounting Officers are enjoined to note the contents of this
Circular for compliance and give it the deserved Service-wide publicity”.
The circular was addressed to The Deputy Governor, the Rt. Honourable Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners/Special Advisers, LGA/LCDA Chairmen and others.
