The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on violent crime, arresting three suspected armed robbers.

The police recovered a Bajaj motorcycle, a machete, and other incriminating items during a patrol operation in the Idimu area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, noting that the arrest was made in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m., during a routine patrol along Car Wash Bus Stop by First Bank in Idimu.

According to the statement, operatives on patrol intercepted three men riding on a motorcycle, leading to their immediate arrest after a search operation.

The suspects were identified as Abdullahi Mustapha, 20; Salisu Sannusi, 30; and Jamiu Sahidu, 26.

A search conducted on them reportedly led to the recovery of a machete concealed in their clothing, an army camouflage uniform, four mobile phones, one power bank, and some squeezed naira notes suspected to have been stolen from victims. A Bajaj motorcycle with registration number AKD 40 OM, allegedly used in their operations, was also recovered.

Preliminary investigation, according to the police, revealed that the suspects had been involved in a series of robberies targeting unsuspecting members of the public before fleeing the scenes on a motorcycle.

The Command stated that the suspects are currently in police custody while efforts are ongoing to conclude investigations and ensure they are prosecuted accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state and ensuring the safety of residents.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.
