Lagos Police recover stolen Mercedes-Benz

The Lagos State Police Command has recovered a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 stolen at gunpoint in Victoria Island’s Akin-Olugbade Street on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

The luxury SUV, valued at approximately N200 million, was taken by a gang of four armed robbers who fired a warning shot to scare away passersby.

The vehicle, with registration number WTO 21 AM and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 4JGFB4FB8SB274117, was last seen heading towards Ozumba Mbadiwe axis.

According to to the state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, in a post shared via X on Monday, the police launched a manhunt, activating joint patrol operations and placing the vehicle on the state’s and national security watchlists.

Adebisi said a probe has commenced into the case, and updates will be provided in due course.

“The vehicle has been promptly recovered by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, and the individuals responsible have been identified.

“Investigation is currently ongoing, and the outcome will be communicated in due course,” Adebisi concluded.

Earlier, eyewitnesses said about four robbers arrived while the car was parked with the driver inside. They forced the driver out and fled the scene with the SUV, which was last seen heading towards the Ozumba Mbadiwe axis.

A senior police officer from the Victoria Island Division said a full-scale manhunt had been launched, and the vehicle was placed on both the Lagos State and national security watchlists.

The stolen SUV was described as black metallic with factory-fitted tinted windows, brown leather interior, LED headlamps, AMG alloy wheels, and a distinctive chrome front grille.
