The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce conducted a late-night operation along Coastal Road on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 75 individuals, consisting of 68 males and 7 females, as part of sustained clean-up and enforcement initiatives in the area.

According to a statement posted on Facebook by Tokunbo Wahab on Thursday, substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered at the scene.

The raid, which took place at about 10pm, was aimed at curbing illicit activities and restoring order in the area. The taskforce has been intensifying efforts to rid Lagos of criminal elements and ensure public spaces are safe for residents.

“In the course of the exercise, one of our officers, Inspector Omosanjo Mohamed, was violently attacked by hoodlums and sustained a serious head injury. He is currently receiving medical treatment.

“Let me state clearly: attacks on law enforcement officers carrying out lawful duties will not be tolerated,” the statement quoted.

The taskforce condemned the attack on its officer and assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. The statement did not specify the extent of Inspector Mohamed’s injuries or his current condition.

Wahab declared that all suspects arrested during the raid will face the full weight of the law, as the taskforce remains resolute in restoring order and ensuring safety along Coastal Road and other parts of Lagos.

The Lagos State Government has been cracking down on environmental offenders and criminal elements in the state, with the taskforce conducting regular operations to maintain law and order.

The operation is part of the state’s efforts to ensure that Coastal Road and other parts of Lagos are safe and secure for all law-abiding residents, with the taskforce vowing to continue its efforts to restore order in the state.
