Meet the new Pope, Pope Leo XIV, 69

Robert Francis Prevost is an American Catholic prelate.

With this election, he became the head of the Catholic Church worldwide and head of the sovereign of the Vatican City State today, May 8,2025.

He had served as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America since 2023.

He is the first American Pope to be elected.
