Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), with reports indicating he will play a crucial role in organising the party’s upcoming National Convention.
General Musa, who recently retired as the 18th Chief of Defence Staff, expressed his intention to join the APC during an interview with Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
He cited the support he received from the party as a key factor in his decision, stating, “The APC has given me the platform to present myself right from when I was CDS till date, so why not?”
The Minister of Defence also pledged his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasising the need for unity and collective effort to ensure the success of the current administration.
“Mr President needs all support, totally. I’ll give him all my support, whatever I can do to make sure that he succeeds in his call of duty, including moving forward to the second term,” Musa stated.
Musa has been listed among the 73-member Central Coordination Committee tasked with organising the APC’s National Convention, scheduled to hold on March 27-28, 2026.
The committee was announced in a statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma was appointed Chairman of the committee, while Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will serve as Vice Chairman. Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State was named Secretary of the committee.
