In a surprising move, Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has extended an olive branch to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, inviting him to commission a project in Kogi.

The development marks a significant shift, signaling a new chapter in their relationship following the invitation from Natasha to Akpabio and other Senators for a series of project commissioning events in Kogi State next week.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan personally signed an invitation to all Senators, which was read aloud by Senate President Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary.

The lawmaker invited her colleagues to join her in Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for the commissioning of constituency projects, marking her second anniversary in office.

The letter read in part, “In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my Distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State.”

According to the letter, the meeting point for the event will be Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State.

The Senate President announced that the letter also provided travel details, stating that Senators flying in can land at Obajana Airstrip and then proceed to Ihima by road.

Apparently pleased with the gesture, Senator Akpabio, after reading the letter, personally congratulated Senator Natasha in advance, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”

The feud between the two began earlier this year over Senate seat reallocation and escalated into a major dispute, resulting in Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension by the Senate on March 6, 2025.

Since returning from suspension on September 24, Senator Natasha has been actively participating in plenary sessions and engaging with the Senate President. Notably, she contributed to the debate on the Criminal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and successfully moved an additional prayer for adoption as a resolution last week.

Senator Natasha’s latest gesture, inviting Senate President Akpabio and her colleagues to the project commissioning, signals a significant thaw in their previously strained relationship.
