Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face DR Congo in African World Cup playoff final on Sunday at 19:00 GMT after the Leopards beat continental heavyweights Cameroon 1-0 in the other semi-final.
Nigeria had earlier secured their spot in the playoff final with a thrilling 4-1 win over Gabon in Morocco.
The winners of that match will then progress to a six-team intercontinental qualifier, which will be held in March and will determine the final two qualifiers for next year’s World Cup.
C. Mbemba took DR Congo to the play off final with his 91 minutes goal, helping his country to defeat Cameroon by one goal.
Victor Osimhen led the charge with a stunning brace, including two goals in extra time, to seal Nigeria’s place in the final.
Akor Adams opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 78th minute, but Gabon leveled just before the end of regular time through Mario Lemina. Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead in the 97th minute, and Osimhen sealed the victory with goals in the 102nd and 113th minutes .
