NMDPRA denies recruitment process, warns of fake job scams

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued a warning to the public about fake recruitment reports, stating that it is not currently recruiting new staff.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, NMDPRA attributed the viral reports to fraudulent syndicates seeking to scam job seekers.

The authority said it was forced to clarify that it’s not recruiting due to fake job offers circulating, as scammers target vulnerable Nigerians with false employment opportunities.

The scammers are reportedly issuing fake job offers, making empty promises, and advertising non-existent positions, while demanding money from hopeful applicants.

The agency emphasised that no recruitment exercise is ongoing and that it is not hiring at any level, adding that any future recruitment will be conducted in accordance with established rules governing employment in the Nigerian Public Service.

“We wish to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the statement read. “Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”

NMDPRA urged the public to ignore all fake recruitment advertisements and to verify any claims only through its official channels. The agency directed Nigerians to its official website and verified social media pages for accurate information.

“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram,” the statement added.

The authority warned that the fraudulent activities not only defraud citizens but also damage the reputation of the agency. It therefore called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment offers.
