No tangible progress in Osun in three years, Yilwatda

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has said there is no tangible progress in Osun State in the past three years, saying the state government is only engaging in theatrics.

Yilwatda said this on Friday at APC’s National Secretariat, Abuja, where he formally presented the Certificate of Return to the party’s Osun State governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

The presentation ceremony was witnessed by key members of the party’s National Working Committee, including the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru; the National Organising Secretary, His Excellency Alhaji Sulaiman M. Argungu; and the Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, further underscoring the strong national backing for the Osun project.

He described the emergence of Asiwaju Oyebamiji by consensus as a powerful statement of unity, maturity, and internal cohesion within the party.

According to him, the consensus outcome reflects the collective resolve of the party and the understanding that while leadership may rest on one shoulder, success is built through teamwork and inclusiveness.

He said, “For the past three years, Osun State has been characterised more by optics and theatrics than by tangible development.

“Governance has often appeared as performance, with little evidence of concrete projects or enduring impact that the people can genuinely point to.”

Yilwatda stressed that Osun deserves more than symbolism, noting that the people yearn for visible development, functional infrastructure, expanded economic opportunities, and purposeful leadership that recognises governance as serious business.

He added, “With the APC, Osun is set for a clear shift in direction. From the moment we secure victory at the polls next year, the state will begin to witness real, measurable progress, projects that can be seen, touched, commissioned, and sustained. Roads, schools, healthcare facilities, economic initiatives, and people-centred policies will take centre stage.”

The APC leader continued that the coming period would mark the beginning of a new era of competence, focus, and delivery, where leadership would be judged by results rather than theatrics, and where government truly works for the people.

Attention was also drawn to the broader political context, with the chairman noting that Osun remains the only South-West state the President lost in the last general election.

He emphasised that this outcome must be reversed, declaring the party’s determination to win decisively in Osun and to deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

In his acceptance remarks, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji expressed deep gratitude to the party leadership as he received the nomination certificate.

He assured the National Working Committee and party faithful that the APC would record decisive victories in Osun in 2026 and 2027.

He reaffirmed his readiness for the task ahead, appreciated the strong national support, and pledged not to take the confidence reposed in him for granted.

According to him, the party would not only meet expectations but exceed them by delivering massive votes and effective governance.

“The people of Osun are ready,” he concluded.

“Governance is serious business, and Osun deserves a serious manager to drive its affairs.

“That manager, the party affirmed, is Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,” he declared.
