Gospel singer and renowned Nollywood soundtrack voice, Onos Brisibi, has passed away at the age of 55.
Brisibi died on March 23, 2026, following a prolonged illness. News of her death was made public on Thursday through an emotional Instagram tribute by veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo.
Widely celebrated for her distinctive voice, Brisibi contributed to some of Nollywood’s most memorable productions, including the classics Domitilla and Blood Money, where her music added depth and emotion to storytelling.
In his tribute, Mofe-Damijo reflected on her life, faith, and the close bond they shared, describing her as “love in human form” and a devoted Christian whose music transcended entertainment to become a source of spiritual upliftment.
“It’s hard to put into words the loss we feel. My dear sister and cousin, Onos Nancy Brisibi, went to be with the Lord on March 23rd, 2026, after a long and difficult illness,” he wrote.
He further praised her as a gifted songstress whose voice “carried light and joy,” noting that she not only sang but ministered through her music, touching lives and drawing people closer to God.
Recalling fond memories, the actor highlighted her vibrant personality, humour, and warmth, adding that her laughter and presence would be deeply missed by family and loved ones.
Born on November 20, 1970, to Apostle Ambrose Oproze Brisibi and Deaconess Mary Koko Brisibi in Aladja, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Brisibi built a legacy rooted in gospel music and film.
She was also a devoted member of LoveWorld Ministries, where she contributed to the spread of the gospel through music.
Brisibi is survived by her daughter, Sarah, her mother, siblings, and extended family members.
Her passing marks the loss of a unique voice in both the gospel music community and Nollywood, where her contributions continue to resonate.
