The Ogun State Ministry of Environment has partnered with Remo Medical Outreach to host the first Remo Public Health and Industrial Accountability Colloquium on Wednesday, November 19th, in Sagamu, Ogun State.

The event aims to address the pressing issue of industrial pollution and its impact on public health.

The colloquium, themed “Safeguarding Community Health, Strengthening Corporate and Government Accountability on Industrial Effluent Discharge,” will bring together stakeholders to discuss ways to strengthen corporate accountability and enforcement mechanisms for effluent discharge.

The event will highlight the public health risks associated with industrial pollution, including cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and long-term chronic conditions.

It will also showcase best practices and policy models from countries with effective environmental regulations.

Additionally, the “Clean Communities Initiatives (CCI)” global campaign will be launched to promote environmental compliance and protect community health.

Top government officials, corporate sector actors, international organizations, and academia are expected to attend the event at Innova Place, Sagamu, starting from noon.

This initiative demonstrates Ogun State’s commitment to improving public health and reducing industrial pollution in the state.
