The Oyo State leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
This decision was reached at an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting held at the party secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Southwest local government area, on Friday, where the party leadership announced its unanimous support for President Tinubu’s candidacy.
The meeting had in attendance, the state chairman, Olayide Abass, former Senate leader and Ambassador for Renewed Hope, Senator Teslim Folarin, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ido-Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Hon. Aderemi Oseni and a host of others.
The meeting endorsed Tinubu for a second term, citing his notable achievements across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as the basis for his adoption.
They stated that Tinubu’s second term would focus on further implementing the various agendas initiated by his administration.
In his remarks, Senator Teslim Folarin reaffirmed the commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State to building a stronger, more united, and more effective political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He emphasised that the central objective is to unify all party stakeholders and consolidate on the 2023 presidential performance by achieving at least a 35% increase in total votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Folarin noted that unity remains the bedrock of any meaningful political advancement.
“No political strategy, regardless of its brilliance, can succeed in an atmosphere of division. Our foremost responsibility is unity. One APC, One Tinubu Project must be our guiding principle,” he declared.
He reiterated that the Renewed Hope agenda, aligned with President Tinubu’s expectations, requires harmony, collaboration, and coordinated mobilisation across all levels of the party. He assured members that Oyo State would not only align with this national direction but would set a standard for political organisation and teamwork.
Folarin further stressed the importance of rebuilding and strengthening APC structures statewide. This includes the complete activation and revitalisation of party organs from the state executive level to all 33 Local Governments, 351 Wards, and every polling unit.
“Our grassroots structures must be vibrant, functional, and connected to the people. Every ward, every unit, and every community must feel the presence and impact of the APC. This is how we consolidate our gains and deliver an even more convincing victory for President Tinubu in the next election,” he said.
Also in his address, Adelabu submitted that the party is now united to wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.
He added,” The leadership of the party has succeeded in its efforts to bring together some of the aggrieved members.
“The party has recorded over 91 per cent in its efforts to reunite with the aggrieved members.
“The process is still ongoing. I am convinced that with this development, the coast is clear for the APC to sweep polls and show the PDP the exit door in 2027.”
Speaking in the same vein, Oseni said members of the party have resolved to work together for the actualisation of the second term bid of Tinubu in 2027.
He also charged the members to go to the grassroot for effective mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
