Oyo State Government has declared a temporary closure of key roads in Ibadan ahead of the coronation of former governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

In a statement by the organising committee, the closures would begin at 7:00 a.m. on Friday and affect the following routes: Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction inward Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction inward Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction inward Mapo Hall.

Also, the government designated three official car parks for the event at the Ibadan North Local Government Area car park, in front of the Immigration Office, Agodi.

“The second car park is located at the football field beside Yemetu Police Station, while the third car park is at Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado,” the statement read.

According to the statement, the traffic diversions on the routes were due to the planned attendance of President Bola Tinubu at the coronation ceremony.

The committee explained that the measures were necessary due to the high-profile nature of the event, which is expected to be graced by President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Shuttle buses will be available to transport guests with valid entry passes to Mapo Hall. Vendors, meanwhile, have been instructed to arrive between 6:00 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. to ensure smooth logistics.

The committee also clarified that only the official convoys of the President and the Governor will be granted unrestricted access to the coronation venue.

The historic ceremony is scheduled to hold on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall, one day after Ladoja’s 81st birthday.
