The Command, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, on Wednesday confirmed receipt of the viral video and stated that it is investigating the matter.

He added that efforts are underway to verify the claims and identify the individuals involved.

According to the police, the individual identified in the video as Shawama was seen in the company of others claiming to have killed 32 people.

However, the command said there is no record of such a person having been arrested by its operatives.

According to the statement, the probe is being carried out using digital tools to track those involved.

“The investigation is being conducted leveraging advanced technology, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis, to ensure a robust and credible outcome,” the command stated.

The police also appealed to members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the suspect and his accomplices.

“The Command appeals to anyone with information that can lead to the identification and arrest of the individual to come forward,” it added.

The command assured residents that updates on the investigation would be made available as progress is recorded.
