The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the killing of seven innocent citizens in a mining site in Wat, Kuru District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement posted on the party’s X handle, PDP State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Choji Felix Dalyop, held the government responsible for the failure to protect human life and ensure basic security.

He described the incident as a senseless loss of life, highlighting the ongoing security crisis and government’s lack of proactive measures.

The PDP noted that the government’s primary duty is to provide security and uphold the rule of law, adding that repeated incidents of unprovoked violence and failure to bring perpetrators to justice show a severe dereliction of duty.

The party recalled a 2025 report by a fact-finding committee constituted by Governor Caleb M. Mutfwang, which revealed that attackers often come from neighboring states, resulting in 420 communities attacked, thousands displaced, and nearly 12,000 lives lost.

The PDP demanded a transparent and impartial investigation into the killings, with findings made public promptly. The party also called for swift justice for the perpetrators and a clear plan to address insecurity and prevent further loss of innocent lives.

The statement reads partly, “A transparent and impartial investigation into the killings, with findings made public, swift prosecution of the perpetrators to ensure accountability, and a clear, actionable government plan to address insecurity and prevent further loss of life.”

The party expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and affected communities, urging national and international communities to monitor the situation.
