Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party are currently holding a crucial meeting at the Oyo State Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

The meeting is being hosted by the Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde.

Those at the meeting are the Governors of Bauchi State, Bayelsa State, Adamawa State, Taraba State, Enugu State, Zamfara State, Osun State, and the Deputy Governors of Delta And Akwa Ibom states.

Also invited to the meeting is the Acting National Chairman of the party, Amb Iliya Damagum.

Sources close to the meeting told our correspondent that the governors are deliberating on pressing national issues and strategic party matters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Also on the agenda is the controversy surrounding the party’s national secretaryship, following the recent Supreme Court judgment on the disputed position and the demand for the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Minister Nyesom Wike, from the party.

The governors are expected to take a position on whether Senator Samuel Anyanwu should return to his position as the national secretary or not.

The governors are expected to review the implications of the Supreme Court judgment ruling, which has sparked varied interpretations among party stakeholders, and chart a unified path forward to strengthen the PDP’s internal democracy and leadership structure.

“Additionally, discussions will focus on repositioning the PDP as the preferred choice for Nigerians in 2027.

” The governors aim to foster unity, resolve lingering concerns, and strategize on reinforcing the PDP’s commitment to good governance and national progress,” a source at the meeting said.
