A leaked document on Wednesday has showed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike was untruthful about his claim that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not invite him to its proposed elective convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Wike, during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday vowed to challenge the plan alongside his allies in PDP who he said will meet on Wednesday (today) to review decision he described as an “injustice”.
“Have they given a date for Ibadan? I don’t know. When has the party’s NEC sat? When did they agree on that? The one they said is NEC is not NEC; NEC has not met. In fact, we are meeting tomorrow. NEC has not met,” he said.
Asked if he was planning a parallel convention, Wike replied, “I am not aware that they are going for a convention in Ibadan. As a NEC member, I have not been told, and nobody has invited me for a NEC meeting. If those people who are working as a team say they are holding NEC, so be it. If no notice of meeting has been served on me as a member of NEC, I have every right to challenge that, and no one can deny me my rights.”
However, a leaked memo showed that the former Rivers State governor was invited in a letter dated July 10, 2025.
The letter was by the party’s National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, and addressed to Wike on behalf of National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.
Anyanwu informed the minister that the NEC meeting would be held at the PDP NEC Hall, Wadata Plaza, Abuja by 2 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The letter showed that it was received by the Office of the FCT Minister and it was stamped and signed on July 18, 2025.
