Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has reaffirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will actively participate in the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party remains a viable political force despite recent internal challenges.

Saraki made the remarks in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Monday, shortly after the conclusion of the PDP National Convention held in Abuja.

Reflecting on his earlier position at the convention, Saraki stressed that the party’s successful conduct of the exercise demonstrates its readiness for the future.

“It will not be under our watch that the PDP will die through non participation in the general election,” he said, adding that the outcome of the convention had reinforced confidence in the party’s direction.

He noted that with the convention concluded, the party must now shift focus to rebuilding internal cohesion and strengthening its structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.

According to him, unity, reconciliation, and effective organisation will be critical in positioning the PDP for victory in 2027.

Saraki also assured party members and aspirants that the PDP remains a credible platform for political ambition, dismissing doubts about its relevance.

“For the doubting Thomases, there is now no room for uncertainty — the PDP will be on the ballot, and will provide Nigerians with a credible alternative,” he stated.

He congratulated members of the newly elected National Executive Committee and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering electoral victories across all levels.

The former Kwara governor charged party leaders and stakeholders to work collectively towards strengthening the party’s chances, emphasizing that their mandate is to secure success in the upcoming elections.

He further expressed appreciation to loyal party members for their continued support, encouraging them to remain steadfast as the PDP prepares for future political contests.

The PDP has faced internal divisions in recent years, but party leaders say the outcome of the latest convention signals a renewed commitment to unity and electoral competitiveness.
