PDP’s zoning decision draws criticism from Dele Momodu

Dare Babalola

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has criticised the party’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region, describing the move as “the most reckless decision in the history of our nascent democracy”.

According to Momodu in a post on Instagram on Tuesday, the decision was influenced by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who he alleged is working for President Bola Tinubu.

Momodu claimed that the PDP is pretending to field a southern candidate while secretly positioning its structures to support Tinubu’s re-election.

“The hand was that of Wike while the voice was that of Tinubu,” Momodu said, adding that the party’s game plan is not hidden. He also questioned the reason given for zoning to the south, saying it “stinks to high heavens”.

Momodu dismissed speculation about possible southern candidates, including Goodluck Jonathan, Peter Obi, and Seyi Makinde, calling such claims “blatant lies from the pit of hell”.

He urged the PDP to stop deceiving Nigerians and be honest about its intentions, suggesting that Tinubu will be the joint candidate of both the APC and PDP in 2027.

“The geniuses should be courageous enough to admit that Tinubu will be the joint candidate of APC and PDP in 2027. No Jupiter will stop Wike from using PDP structures for Tinubu. That’s already a done deal,” he said.
