The Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Dayo Ekong, has expressed concerns that Peter Obi’s political influence is declining.
In a statement on X late Tuesday, Ekong urged Obi to pause and reflect on his actions, noting that his rising profile in 2023 was due to a combination of factors, including party structures, grassroots mobilization, and public desire for change.
However, Ekong believes that Obi’s divisive choices and inconsistent political moves are eroding the foundation of his support.
“In 2023, Nigerians rallied behind him because he represented a fresh alternative but today, his actions are beginning to undermine that support,” he stated.
Ekong cited the 2024 Edo governorship election as an example, where Obi supported LP candidate Olumide Akpata against the preference of party leaders.
