Popular blogger, CKN, tackles Wike for claiming journalists fed from Rivers political crisis

A Nigerian blogger and publisher, Chris Kehinde Uwandu, famously known as CKN, has called out the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for claiming that some media outlets are unhappy that the political crisis in Rivers State is settled.

Wike, during his address on Thursday, listed some media houses, which he accused of making money from the crisis in the state.

According to the former Rivers governor who was at loggerheads with his successor, Sim Fubara, the well of such media houses has dried up.

Reacting, the journalist described Wike’s claim as a “joke taken too far”, adding that it was time for stakeholders in the media field of the country to reinvent the industry.

He wrote, “During his national address yesterday, Nyesom Wike repeatedly said TVC, Arise News, AIT (these were the ones he mentioned) and others are not happy that the Rivers political crisis has ended because the well from which they fetch money has dried up.. (Making money from it).

“This is not a joking matter at all ..It’s time we as a media reinvent ourselves, so that we don’t continue to call ‘monkey, broda’ (as Yorubas say) because of what we’ll eat.” (sic)

CKN also wondered why the media practitioners who were present at the press conference did not caution the Minister.

“Maybe they didn’t want to embarrass him,” the blogger pointed out.

He added, “I trust Babajide Kolade-otitoju, Reuben Abati, Rufai Oseni, would have said something about that there and then, even me if I was on ground.”
