Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore on Tuesday stormed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) headquarters in Abuja to demand the discharge certificate of embattled corps member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as “Raye”.

The former presidential candidate was accompanied to the headquarters by some other Nigeria which includes human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who also serves as Raye’s legal representative.

On Monday, Sowore had stated that he would ensure that the NYSC releases the discharge certificate of the corp member without Raye serving for two extra months.

He wrote, “By 9am tomorrow, we will resume at the Maitama Abuja HQ of the National Youth Service Corps @officialnyscng to receive the Discharge Certificate of Corp Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye ‘Raye’, who has successfully concluded her compulsory service.”

Raye was accused of failing to clear for the month of April while still serving, earning her two extra months of service.

However, her legal representative, Inibehe on Monday accused one Veronica Ebere of refusing to clear the ex-Corper in the month of April despite efforts by Raye to plead with her.

Recall that Raye came to limelight after she slammed the President Bola Tinubu-led government over the hardship in the country.
