Reno Omokri advises men on importance of having a will

A social commentator, Reno Omokri, has sounded the alarm on the importance of writing a will, particularly for married men with children.

Citing statistics that 64% of husbands die before their wives, Omokri warned that failing to write a will can lead to unintended consequences.

According to Omokri, in a post made on X, if a husband dies without a will, his property and assets may transfer to his wife, and if she remarries, her new husband may become her immediate heir, potentially depriving their children of their rightful inheritance.

This is especially concerning in cases where customary law may contradict the common law, which typically favors the spouse.

Omokri advised married men to take proactive steps to protect their legacy by writing a will, even if they don’t trust their wife or children. He recommended giving the will to a trusted lawyer or confidante to ensure that one’s wishes are carried out after death.

He added, “In fact, there are men whose stock in trade is to target widows who have recently inherited their late husband’s property due to such negligence from their hubbies who left off writing a testament before the cold hand of death snatched them away.”
