The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has solicited the public’s assistance in providing credible information pertaining to alleged instances of child sexual abuse and misconduct within daycare centres throughout Nigeria.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday through its official X handle, the agency stated its commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into concerns highlighted in recent public discussions and viral posts.

“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports,” the agency stated.

NAPTIP called upon individuals possessing factual information, evidence, or direct knowledge of the alleged incidents, including those personally affected, to confidentially reach out to the agency.

“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially via DM or email us at info@naptip.gov.ng,” it added.

The statement comes in response to recent widespread public discussions and viral social media posts highlighting alleged incidents in daycare environments.

While specific details of the viral content were not elaborated in the statement, NAPTIP’s response underscores its broader mandate to protect children from all forms of exploitation, including sexual abuse.
