
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of officers involved in a viral video showing the brutal assault of a citizen.
The officers allegedly demanded a ₦1 million bribe from the victim, Cletus Emmanuel Onyekachi, over an expired tinted permit, and became violent when he refused to pay.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident and has assigned the CP Monitoring Team to handle the matter. The officers have been taken into custody and are facing disciplinary action.
The Command has assured the public that it remains committed to upholding professionalism and accountability in policing. The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.
