Rivers senator, Barinada Mpigi, dies at 64

Senator Barinada Mpigi, who represented the Rivers South-East Senatorial District
Senator Barinada Mpigi, who represented the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, has passed away at the age of 64.

His death was confirmed on Thursday by a member of the House of Representatives, Akin Alabi, in a post on X.

Alabi wrote, “Good night my dear friend. Rest in Peace, Senator Mpigi Barinada. Sen Mpigi represented Rivers South East in the Senate. He was the Chairman, Senate Commitee on Works.”

Mpigi, who hailed from Tai Local Government Area in the Ogoni ethnic nationality of Rivers State, previously served two terms in the House of Representatives, representing the Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency.

He was also a member of the 9th and 10th Senates and served in the current National Assembly until his death.
