A prominent Nigerian activist, Deji Adeyanju, has expressed disappointment and frustration over the country’s stagnant development, lamenting that the same issues he protested against 30 years ago remain unchanged.
In a post on social media on Thursday, Adeyanju bemoaned the crippling power crisis, saying he “couldn’t sleep well because generator broke down and inverter was drained.”
He lamented that the country’s problems remain unchanged despite three decades of activism and advocacy.
Adeyanju further emphasised that the more pressing concern is the persistence of these challenges, stating, “Same societal issues I was shouting and doing Aluta for 30yrs ago are still the issues today. Things never get better in Nigeria.”
Adeyanju’s words paint a picture of a nation stuck in time, where the same challenges – poor power supply, inadequate infrastructure, and ineffective leadership – continue to plague citizens.
The post has sparked a heated discussion on social media, with many Nigerians echoing Deji’s sentiments and sharing their own stories of frustration. Some have pointed fingers at successive governments, accusing them of failing to address the nation’s fundamental problems.
The situation has raised concerns about Nigeria’s development trajectory and the ability of its leaders to address pressing national issues.
As the country continues to grapple with these challenges, citizens are demanding accountability and tangible solutions to move the nation forward.
